Cavan Emerge Victorious after our second strong game with Monaghan CC by 5 wickets and 7 overs, along with a sixer that went out of the park leaving us in the long run as high flying winners. County Cavan Cricket Club travelled to Monaghan for our 2 nd friendly match aganist Monaghan CC on the 13th of August 2017. Cavan won the toss and let Monaghan bat first . Aravind and Dhana were the opening batsmen. Sone and Hassan started Cavan's bowling attack, they did some brilliant work in the first 6 overs to restrict Monaghan 16/0 .After, they were followed by Sithosh and Waqas who kept things tight and then Monaghan started loosing wickets. Sithosh took 2 wickets in the middle order and Santosh took the informing batsman Dhana.Cavan's fielding was outstanding, Monaghan found it difficult to rotate the strike in the middle overs and they also tried risky runs and it costed them 2 wickets .In Hassans second spell he took a crucial wicket of Chirag without scoring. At this stage Monaghan was at 74/7 after 21 Overs . Finally ,in the last over Pranoob claimed 2 wickets and Monaghan all out in 91/10.Bernard (17) and Dhana(16) were  the top scorers for Monaghan.For Cavan they were Sithosh14/2, santosh4/2 and Pranoob 5/2 .   Cavan openers Zakku and Waqas started the innings .Cavan lost their first wicket in the second over. Waqas was leg before by Mohan .Hassan and Zakku steadliy rotated their strikes and shortly after Hassan started hitting big sixes and Zakku gave good support by continuously rotating the strike, after 6 overs Cavan's score reached 41 /1 .Hassan hit a big six that flew out of the boundaries and park. He played a brilliant knock of 38 including 3 huge six's and 2 fours .When chirag and hamza came into attack, Cavan lost their 4 wickets in quick sessions. After this Pranoob came at 6 and he also played a brilliant knock of 24 , including 4 fours . Sithosh and Pranoob's 6 th wicket partnership took the team to par the score in 18 overs. We'd like to thank all of the Monaghan players and Monaghan CC for accompanying us, we received great hospitality and on the whole everyone enjoyed the day.

As the ground in Monaghan was unfit to play, Cavan hosted the match in The Rugby Club, Swellan Park. Thanks to the whole Monaghan Club team for coming here and playing a friendly match with us.  Cavan won the toss and we let the away team bat first.Dhana and Aravind started the innings for Monaghan steadily.Hassan and Sone kept Monaghan openers tightly in their first spell.Both openers showed their class in the first six overs,they rotated the strike and didn't even look for any risky shots.Sone gave Cavan the first break-through by taking Aravind in point region by an outstanding catch by Sithosh then Monaghan started loosing wickets in quick sessions and at the end Chirag came and played a quick 18 runs including a massive six that lead the away team to a fighting total of 91/8 in 20overs. For Cavan Sanu claimed two wickets,Hassan,Sone,Sithosh and Zakku claimed one each. Waqas and Hassan started the innings for Cavan.Hassan tried to clear the boundary in the second over of Jaye and ended in mid-wicket,then Cavan started loosing wickets in a quick session.Three unwanted run outs in the middle over was a bad set back for the cavan team.Pranoob came at number 6 and played a quick 14 runs and he also tried to clear the boundary and ended in safe hands of Bupendra.Extras were coming in each over which was a bonus for the Cavan team and in the last over they wanted 14runs,Jojo and Safi tried their level best and the Cavan team was short by 1 run when the last ball bowled off. Even though Cavan lost the match it was a promising start for a new club.The whole Monaghan team applauded the efforts and dedication of our Cavan players.
